Welcome to Richard Fletcher Art, home to my creative endeavors under the banner of “Room at the Top.”

My artistic pursuits encompass a diverse range of mediums and styles. From vibrant oil and acrylic paintings to affordable prints, sculptures, and even a novel in progress titled “Pablo,” my creations are inspired by the beauty of everyday life and the emotions they evoke.

In my previous role in publishing, creativity was at the forefront of our endeavors. We crafted publications, web advertisements, and events that not only captured attention but also resonated with audiences on a profound level. Now, as I embark on this artistic journey, I bring that same passion for creativity and innovation to my artwork.

At 80 years young, I approach each day with a zest for life and a commitment to living fully in the present. A devoted vegetarian for 53 years, I maintain an active lifestyle that includes swimming three times a week, cycling, Latin dancing, and engaging in cerebral pursuits like chess and crossword puzzles.

Beyond my personal pursuits, I’m deeply committed to environmental conservation and empowering women in business. My advocacy efforts in these areas have been longstanding, reflecting my belief in creating a better world for future generations.

While my formal training in art may be limited, my journey has been one of self-discovery and continuous learning. From my early experiences assisting a renowned sculptor in the UK to my travels through Europe and Africa, every encounter has shaped my unique artistic style—a style characterized by whimsy, optimism, and a vibrant color palette.

Today, I find inspiration in the natural beauty of my surroundings—the mountains, trees, and horses that grace the landscape of my home in Hout Bay, Cape Town. With a studio overlooking this picturesque vista, I immerse myself in the creative process, striving to bring joy and beauty into the lives of others through my art.
